Ten Pounds Down and Counting
Posted on March 02nd, 2010 in Weight Loss Mania
I’ve lost ten pounds!!! My first weight loss milestone folks! I’ve encountered a few bumps in the road here and there but haven’t devoured a whole chocolate cake or anything (not that it hasn’t crossed mind)! I wanted to share a few observations I’ve made about myself and my “rebirth” as a woman with healthy eating habits.
- My ability to smell food is amazing. I can identify the brand of peanut butter on a person’s toast three tables over at my favourite breakfast hangout.
- I’ve had to sit on my hands to stop them from helping themselves to some stranger’s New York fries smothered in gravy at a neighbouring table.
- I’m ready to boycott my gym. Located on the second floor of a major supermarket chain, the aroma of those hot greasy chickens roasting at the deli counter permeating the gym walls is completely unacceptable.
- The Food Channel should be outlawed at the gym. I’d like a word with the masochist that makes us watch Anna Olsen slowly drizzling hot melted chocolate onto an awaiting fluffy New York cheesecake as we grunt away on the treadmill.
- Pouring wine into a measuring cup and then into a wine glass kills “the mood.”
- And finally, snacking on microwave popcorn without butter is like chewing on wood. You can chew it till it’s pulverized and you’re still left with splinters of dry kernels in your teeth.
Anyone have any insight to share? Love to hear your comments.

CONGRADS Kathryn!!!
Nice job…I know what that smell is all about, the delicious foods and lovely scents of baked goods etc while your working out….If only we could stop ourselves when we are where we want to be…I have lost 8 pounds but it has been a struggle.Try going into Walgreens, or CVS or the supermarket with all the Easter chocolate!!!
I broke down yesterday and bought 1 truffle. I got lost in a bad neighborhood and yes I’m a blond with a GPS!!!!!! Holy Cow, yes I’m referring to me. What an A–!! I mean a Jack Ass to get into that…But that chocolate sure tasted good and nurtured my brain to get me in the right direction…I finally made it home with no more mishaps yesterday…Today is another story…My advice, one hour at a time..
Keep up the great work Kathryn,

Hi Cindy, thanks for the boost of confidence! 1 truffle won’t hurt. I’m a brunette with a GPS and I still get lost …
I think we should program our GPS’: “make a legal U-turn if passing fast food restaurants.” I have to walk right past the Pizza Pizza place to get out of the mall…sheer torture! Keep up the good work girlfriend!
