Who Would Like to Write To Juliet With Me?
I seem to be on this summer romance kick ever since I saw the movie, “Letters to Juliet” last month. I get goose bumps every time I watch the movie’s trailer. Who could resist the enchanting love story not to mention the romantic setting of the lush green hills and vineyards of Italy!Â
While visiting Verona, gorgeous and witty Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) finds an old letter tucked away amongst the array of letters in an ancient wall where the love lost write to Juliet (of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet) for a reply. A group of gracious and dedicated ladies answer the letters on Juliet’s behalf.Â
Claire (Vanessa Redgrave…she is absolutely beautiful) wrote the letter in 1957. Sophie decides to honour it with an answer! Claire turns up in Verona with her very handsome grandson, Charlie (Christopher Egan) and the three of them travel through the breathtaking hills of Tuscany searching for Claire’s lost love.
I’m going to create my own love story…I’m writing to Juliet! I’ll sit in my garden (hardly a Tuscany landscape but it’ll do just fine) with a glass of Chardonnay, write my letter and send it to Italy IN THE MAIL to the address on The Juliet Club website.  And then I’ll wait for my reply. Marriage is wonderful but even the happiest of couples search their hearts for answers from time to time.
Why don’t you write to Juliet too?Â
This bud of love, by summer’s ripening breath,
May prove a beauteous flower when next we meet. Â
– Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet
Until next Tuesday …

I love Shakespeare! I was lucky to be able to participate in several summers of Shakespeare bootcamp-so to speak. I’m going to check out both The Juliet Club and the movie, both sound very interesting. Stopping by from the Blog Frog! Hope the challenge is going well for you!

! Pardon the cliche but, “love was in the air” at that theatre! Love is ageless and timeless.

I think Shakespeare was a romantic! I thought the letter writing to Juliet was just a part of the movie. I was so surprised to find out you really could write a letter to Juliet. And there’s a competition with the award being presented on Valentine’s Day for the best letter. Let me know if you write!

Hannah, my middle name is Hannah! It’s such a beautiful name. I went out and bought some special stationary and wrote the letter! I mailed it on Monday so I have no idea how long it takes a letter to get to Italy. I’m glad you like the blog…it’s never dull around here…
